She said “yes!” during the 2014 Portage Prom Fashion Show. During this memorable event, the Portage High School Thespians (theatre department) used some wireless uplighting in their lightshow, which served as a perfect backdrop to the prom proposal.
Earlier in the day, one of the girls received 8 flowers from a secret admirer. Right before the 2nd show, the male student called her onto the stage, got down on one knee and asked if she would go to prom with him. From an outsider’s view, I thought it was going to be a marriage proposal but was happy to see this growing trend in dance “proposals.”
The Portage High School Thespians had a great time adding some color with wireless uplights to their acrylic stairs complimenting the formal attire. During the 2nd show, the light jockeys started to strobe the lights, make them change colors randomly and flash in different patterns.
Some proceeds from the Portage Prom Fashion Show go towards Gabriel’s Horn Homeless Shelter, a short term shelter for homeless women.
A special thanks to all the vendors who helped produce the prom fashion show. Dunhill Tuxedos and Louie’s Tux Shop provided the men’s attire while A Pink Boutique and Paris House of Bridal Fashion provided the women’s attire. Don Roberts Beauty School styled hair and applied make-up.
