International Affairs Office, Student Activities, and Multicultural Campus Council hosted Global Groove 2014 at Purdue University Calumet of Hammond Indiana with lots of entertainment as guests got their groove on with the DJ.
Upon checking in, everyone received a passport that was filled out at the various booths that they visited. Education Abroad, International Programs Office, Student Activities, Brazilian Students, Ecuadorian Students, the Chinese Students, Saudi Students, and Indian Students all represented their booths. Once the passports were completed and turned in, winners were picked at random and awarded prizes.
Guests of all cultures filled their plates with ethnic food such as Arabic, Mexican, Chinese, Indian and more. As they ate, Ballet Folklorico Santa Maria danced to songs representing different states of Mexico with traditional attire.
Following Ballet Folklorico was a group of Indian students that put on a dance performance to a mix of different songs. After a little setup, a Saudi students group with 3 guitarists and 2 singers performed a couple songs. Equadorian students then played the piano, a drum like instrument, guitar, and sang a couple songs that everyone joined in on singing.
A high-energy Zumba instructor jumped out and had everyone following along with some new dance moves. The room was heating up so everyone took a little break as the Arabic students taught a little dance. Zumba continued right into open dancing with the dj as everyone grooved the night away.
Grooving all night is a specialty of our Hammond school DJs. Click the contact tab today to find out more!
